Dog and Puppy TrainingDoes your dog stand instead of sit? Does your dog run away instead of coming when you request it? When you ask your dog to "Go fetch the paper, boy!" does he bring back the paper-boy? If this sounds like your dog, book in for some training sessions with Cassie, our Therapy Trainer.
"Socialisation of puppies and adult dogs can prevent a lifetime of problems"
Cassie, our Therapy Trainer, is currently studying her Certificate IV in Companion Animal Services for dog training, and trains only using Positive Reinforcement-Based Training. This means that we never use check chains or other similar aversive equipment or methods. You can be sure that your dog is in safe hands.
Gentle, reward based techniques only. Punishment and check chains are never used.
Cassie conducts each and every one of her classes under full guidance of Dr Cam Day and reports to him with each case she undertakes. This means that if your dog has any behaviour issues, they can be identified and treated as soon as possible, with expert knowledge.
Cassie also offers unique services to dog owners who live in apartments, townhouses or other similar dwellings. As part of Highrise Hounds, Cassie can particularly help those with apartment-related toilet-training issues, body corporate issues and any other advice you may need for calm apartment living. What will you and your dog learn?
All our training options are listed below for you to book.Cassie is available for Private Training Lessons, either in our clinic at Fairfield, or in your home. Occasionally, Cassie runs Small Group Classes with no more than 6 dogs in a class. If any group classes are coming up, they will be listed below. If you are booking Private Lessons, they can be scheduled to suit both yours and Cassie's timetables. Cassie can do after-hours lessons if that suits you, however for lessons starting at 6pm or later there will be a surcharge.
Requirements for training When you attend a lesson, please make sure you are wearing closed in shoes with non-slip soles. Sports shoes are best, and please try to avoid wearing thongs or sandals, for health and safety reasons. If you are booking in for a group class and your dog is sick, please keep your dog at home, for the health of other dogs in the class. Also please note that group classes are not suitable for dogs with severe behaviour problems. If your dog has a severe behaviour problem (such as extreme anxiety, aggression, or excessively unruly) please book in for either a private lesson or a consultation with Dr Cam Day. What do you do now? Review the list of classes and services below and make your selection from there.
